The Hammonds are outstanding in their field
Thanks to help from their scarecrows, Bill and Hillary, Jack and Sue Hammond will grow another bountiful crop of vegetables and flowers this year. The proceeds of their harvest go to the Oregon Food Bank and the St. James Apartments.
The Sponslers visit South America
In March, Tom Sponsler and his wife, Virginia, traveled to South America. Their month-long holiday in Chile and Argentina provided them with unique opportunities to hike in the Andes, visit wineries in Argentina and float the El Tigre River in Buenos Aires. The photos show some of the beautiful scenery and fun they had on their trip.

Beery & Elsner go European
Pam and Paul visited France, Italy and Switzerland in June, accompanied by Paul’s step-mother, Mildred, who turned 95 on the trip! The three-country visit included brief sojourns in Paris, Bologna and Lausanne. Although the trip was prompted by their son Christopher’s graduation from an overseas graduate program in International Studies in Bologna, Italy, they found time to do the requisite tours of museums, churches and shops. Some of their favorite activities were dinner at a winery in Tuscany, a walking tour of historic perfumeries in Paris and a jaunt to Florence for a day of sightseeing and shopping followed by handcrafted pizza on the plaza.
Best in breed finalist at BEH
Fiona, the office hound, is proud to report that her best friend Dan, a champion Irish Setter owned by Pam and Paul, recently competed in the Irish Setter Club of America National Specialty Show held in Phoenix, Arizona. As can be seen in the action shots below, he strutted his stuff in style! In tough national competition, featuring 700 Irish Setters, Dan was a finalist in the Best of Breed competition. Not bad considering it was 95 degrees out and Dan experienced his first airplane ride getting to Phoenix!! Fiona and Dan are now strategizing their upcoming show careers – so check back for more news!

Put your boss in the front of the boat and look for a big wave
In September 2007, three of the firm's lawyers (Jack, Paul and Chris), accompanied by one intrepid spouse (Sue Hammond), rafted the wild and scenic Rogue River. The picture shows one of the rafts, with Paul in front and Chris at the oars looking for a BIG wave.
Jack Hammond, Tom Sponsler explore new opportunities for BEH branch locations
On April 8, 2008, Jack Hammond is journeying to Cocodrie (French for Crocodile), Louisiana and Nanny Cay, British Virgin Islands for the purpose of inquiring into the viability of opening new BEH branches at these two exotic locations. It is reported that both venues have a lack of quality governmental attorneys. BEH, as always, will go to any lengths to satisfy the need for quality legal representation. It is also anecdotally reported that fishing and sailing are pretty darn good there this time of year. We will update you on this exciting development in the future.
It should be further noted that Tom Sponsler is soon returning from a similar trip to Argentina. He is reported to be taking Spanish immersion lessons, so something may be in the works there as well!
BEH Disc Golf Competitor
Justin Hiatt, the newest BEH paralegal, is competing in regional disc golf tournaments throughout the year. The game of disc golf is similar in structure to traditional golf, except Frisbees are used instead of balls and clubs. The object of the game, as with golf, is to get the disc into the basket (hole) in the fewest throws possible. Formalized in the 1970s, disc golf has become very popular with a wide range of players from school age to old age. Justin’s first challenge of 2008 will be the ProAm Aloha Sushi Classic in Walla Walla, Washington.
